photovideojournalism

One of the most fascinating developments, that's been a direct result of contemporary information and communication technology, is that of the photovideojournalist. Witness the live battle field coverage of CNN as US Military went into Iraq. The one-man or two-person team who can capture, cut, edit and broadcast, real time, wirelessly, on-the-fly is a fascinating concept. I'm going to try and figure out a video-BLOG sooner or later. Stay tuned.

Fort Frances Ontario

In the background you see the rail line going across the Rainy River to our neighbours to the south. We took a little family time last summer with 'gramma' to do some fishing and some touring. Never been to this area before. Some fellow "Keggers" grew up here in Fort Frances.

The Crackel Brothers. Glenn and Gavin. I worked at the Keg during my university days. Don't remember any of it ... it must have been fun.

Anyway, Fort Frances and surrounding area is a beautiful spot. Further below this kneeling shot is me, about fifty paces away, looking South East across the river at the town of Ranier, Minnesota good ole US of A.

My wife doesn't pick up the camera much, but when she does, I'm alway impressed. Tx Jen. Excellent framing. Nice rules of thirds. She's a natural.

In my Walter Mitty mind ...

... I'm a photo video journalist. In this semi imaginary world of mine, I take great pictures, stunning videos and wrap them with captivating stories. I say 'semi' imaginary because although I do have a digital camera and a digital video camera, for that matter, professing any skill at journalism or even suggesting a mere grip on the written word would be 'grasping at straws'.

Regardless, both my camera and video camera go with me virtually everywhere and have since 1999 (ask my friends). Case in point though, my single most loyal fan and reader is simply the real, non-walter-mitty-me. [In other words, in reading this, you are probably going 'where no man has gone before'. But thanks for playing along.]

People dream. Whatever. I'm having fun.
